Archaeology Update

During early February 2021 Worcestershire Archaeology will return to the former Golf Course to complete their excavation and recording of the former World War II anti-aircraft gun emplacements on the site.

The bases of two former gun emplacements were excavated and recorded during excavation works in 2020 and the work to be undertaken in February will reveal more about the ancillary buildings and supporting infrastructure for these features. The archaeology will mark the completion of the archaeological mitigation excavation and recording on the former Golf Club site which is identified in the Written Scheme of Investigation as approved by Birmingham City Council. The works are scheduled to last 2-3 weeks and the results will be published in a Report to be submitted to the City Council in due course.
